BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Sport at Altrincham College

Course description

This 9 unit course extends and deepens the specialist work-reklated focus from GCSE PE. Ther is potential for the qualification to prepare students directly for employment and it is suitable for those who wish to enter a particular specialist are of work or university.

Course content

6 Mandatory Units : Anatomy & Pysiology, Fitness Training & Programming for Health, Sport and Well-Being, Professional Development in the Sports Industry, Sports Leadership, Investigating Business in Sport and the Active Leisure Industry, Skills Acquisition in Sport.

Optional Units : Practical Sports Performance, Coaching for Performance, Rules, Regulations and Officiating in Sport.

Entry requirements

Five or more A* - C gardes at GCSE including English Language and Maths.

BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Sport at Merit Level, GCSE PE Grade B minimum

Assessment

The course is both theoretical and practical. Assessment is through exams, written work, observation, laboratory reports, practical performance and presentations.

The course is equivalent to 2 A Levels

Future opportunities

This course leads to a number of employment oportunities and university courses including Teaching, Sports Coaching, Sports Rehabilitation, Sports Centre MAnagement, Sport Development, Fitness and Training Specialist, Armed Forces.
