Btec Health & Social Care at Nether Stowe School
The Edexcel Btec Health and Social Care is a 2 year course that will provide the opportunity to complete work that links directly to the vocational areas and will provide up to date knowledge of health and social care settings.
Students will undertake a variety of units that will provide an in-depth understanding of the Health and Social Care sectors.
Topics will include the roles, responsibilities, skills and attributes of people who work within this sector, human development across the lifespan and how different factors affect development, including the impact of physiological disorders.
A merit or distinction at Level 2 Health and Social Care or equivalent GCSE qualifications in English and Maths.
Unit 1 - Human Lifespan Development (90 minute exam)
Unit 2 - Working in Health and Social Care (90 minute exam)
Unit 5 - Meeting individual care and support needs (internally assessed coursework)
Unit 12 - Supporting individuals with additional needs (internally assessed coursework)
Successful completion of the Btec National Extended Certificate is the equivalent of 1 A Level.
Btec Nationals are valued by employers and higher education and a Btec in Health and Social Care can lead on to Nursing, Midwifery, Social Work, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Primary Education, amongst others.
