Food & Beverage Level 2 Diploma at Farnborough College of Technology

Course description

You will learn in our industry-standard commercial Gallery Restaurant. The restaurant is open to the public so you'll be gaining real practical experience using effective communication and service skills to prepare, cook and present food to customers.

Course content

On this course, you will study for the Diploma in Culinary Skills qualification. This next level will further develop and build your skills as required for a wider range of practical activities within the kitchen, learning to develop further methods of cookery, producing meals and the broader service skills to work front of house. This will be carried out within our training kitchens and restaurant.

  • Developing skills for employment in the catering and hospitality industry
  • Preparation and cooking of stocks, soups and sauces
  • Preparation and cooking of meat and offal
  • Production of biscuit, cake and sponge products
  • Hot beverage and barista skills

Entry requirements

You will need to have achieved Level 1 Food and Beverage and have a successful reference and interview. 

All young people will continue to improve their skills in English and Mathematics while studying at the college. If you have lower than a C grade GCSE in Mathematics or English Language, you will be supported to work towards this level.

Future opportunities

Onto a specialist Level 3.
