Business - Access Course at Harrow College
The course provides an introduction to a range of business-related topics. It is designed to prepare students for progression to a university level course in Business.
You will study a range of topics in four broad areas: Study Skills, Financial decision-making, Marketing & Business Planning, and Managing People & Business.
You will have around 15 hours per week of classroom study, which will include lectures, presentations, group work and discussion.
Universities have made GCSE English and Maths a prerequisite for progression from an Access programme into higher education. Students are therefore required to have at least a GCSE or an overseas equivalent at grade C or better in English or Maths prior to commencing their chosen Access Course (evidence will be required). Students who do not have both English or Maths at GCSE grade C or overseas equivalent will take this alongside their Access course, therefore must undertake an assessment to determine whether they are at the correct level to study for this in year. Students who do not have GCSE English and Maths or equivalent at Grade C will not be allowed to study an Access course and will be signposted to our evening GCSE courses, which are again subject to an initial assessment to assess suitability.
Please see our information on fees and bursaries on the Young Learners (16+) pages of the website. Any fees paid for full time programmes are non refundable. Please contact Admissions if you would like further information or advice.
The course leads directly to degree level study in Business or a related subject.
Occasional trips may be organised eg to a museum or local place of interest. You may be advised to buy a text book for some subjects.
