Art and Design A level at Woodbridge High School
Under the umbrella of Art, Craft and Design you will have the opportunity to work in a range of disciplines including Fine Art, Graphic communication, Textile design, Three-dimensional design and Photography. You will have to show evidence that you can work in at least two of these disciplines throughout your portfolio unit and can specialise, if you choose, in the externally set assignment. During the course you will learn how to analyse the work of artists, crafts people and designers, decoding the context, meaning and messages within their work as well as closely studying the materials and processes they have used. You will learn about the context in which art is made and develop a strong understanding of art specialist vocabulary and terminology. You will learn how to identify, select and use appropriate sources in response to a starting point, theme or concept. Throughout the course you will learn how to generate ideas and sustain focused investigations through the experimentation of materials, techniques and processes.
