Mathematics at St Paul's Catholic College

Course description

A more investigational approach to mathematics is encouraged, along side ICT packages and group activities, to enhance the learning and teaching of the subject. Studying Mathematics at A Level will enable you to follow a degree in mathematics or follow a degree course in a related subject. It will provide a head-start on others in scientific or business degrees and with the ability to solve difficult problems logically and communicate an argument will enable individuals to stand out from the crowd in the workplace.

The benefits of studying Mathematics is the variety of career paths it provides. A 2009 study showed that the top three ‘best’ jobs in terms of income and satisfaction were careers which included a strong mathematical element. Another survey shows that the top 15 highest earning college degrees have mathematics as a common element.

5+ A*-C, B+ Mathematics GCSE on the Higher paper
