Functional Skills Level 2 (ICT) at Cromwell Community College

Course description

Functional Skills are practical skills that help learners gain the most out of work, education and everyday life. Functional ICT encourages learners to use technology in ways which make them effective and involved as citizens and enable them to operate confidently in life and work in a wide range of contexts. Functional skills aren’t just about the basic skills of reading writing and arithmetic or about being able to log onto a computer. Functionality requires the application of these skills across a wide range of contexts. It is about developing the mental agility to take on challenges in a range of often unforeseen and new settings. It is fundamental to problem solving, and can instil confidence and heighten the ability to learn. The skills acquired will help learners become more effective in everything that they do. All learners aged 14 and above, including young people and adults would benefit from functional ICT in order to find, select and bring together relevant information and use ICT to develop, interpret and exchange information for a purpose.
