IT Level 3 OCR Cambridge Technical Diploma at Highbury College
The OCR Cambridge Technical Diplomain IT is a new full-time programme designed to teach young people up-to-date and relevant IT skills.
It reflects the blend of business, technical, interpersonal and project knowledge needed by someone who wants to progress to further study or is thinking about a career in the IT and Telecoms sector and beyond.
You will study
- seven units
- Functional Skills and
- undertake work experience relevant to the course.
Core Learning Units:
- Communicationg in the IT Industry
- Working in the IT Industry
- Setting up an IT Network
- Computer Systems
- Website Development
- Database Systems and Supporting Organisations through IT.
Level 2 Functional Skills:- Literacy and Numeracy.
Work Experience: students will spend 5-10 days working in industry. The placement will be meaningful and relevant to the subject area.
You will need to have 5 GCSEs at grade D, including English, Maths and IT. Evidence of previous work experience would be useful.
You will need to be interviewd by a member of the programme team before you can be accepted onto the programme.
By achieving a minimum grade of pass on all units, including Functional Skills, by completing assignments on time and regular attendance. Your achievements will be monitored on a regular basis.
If the Level 2 OCR Diploma is passed with a satisfactory grade of Merit or above you will be able to progress to the Level 3 qualification such as BTEC National Award for IT Practitioners.
