This course offers the Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care. You will gather evidence for the Level 2, complete functional/key skills in Communication, Number and ICT as well as knowledge studies. Evidence will be gathered in the workplace. You will be trained both on and off the job. You will further develop skills for working with those needing care to provide healthy, safe and secure environments; and to offer high levels of support. This apprenticeship is for people who work with those needing care of all ages and with a range of needs - in settings or services whose main purpose is care, e.g. care homes or facilities. Workers in this area make sure people are looked after, kept active, happy and nourished. They also help maintain social and practical skills. This apprenticeship gives people a fulfilling opportunity to work with those in need. Equally, it ensures candidates put theory into practice. As an apprentice, the exact nature of your job role will depend on your employer. The Level 2 Apprenticeship is for those who want to devlop the skills to work in care settings. After successful completion of this apprenticeship there is good scope for progression. You may move up through levels of work; for example, from assistant to supervisor. There are also opportunities to undertake further training or assessment.
Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care; functional/key skills in Number, Communication and ICT; Employment Rights and Responsibilities; First Aid Certificate; enhancement courses and activities, e.g. Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity.
A keen interest in health and social care. Optional: GCSE Health and Social Care or equivalent.
The course is mainly assessed in the work place, but also off the job.
The course is fully funded for 16-18 year olds.
The course offers you a specialist work-based qualification to support a career related to Health and Social Care or to progress on to studying a Level 3 in Health and Social Care or a related subject. With further training, you could continue to develop your career in health and social care. The course is work-based which means that you can earn and learn at the same time whilst developing the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers in all areas of the care sector are looking for.
