The One Year Course at The Windsor Boys' School

Course description

The content of the course enables students to re-sit their GCSEs in Maths and English Language (in a Year 12 class) whilst studying some Level 3 BTEC subjects.

Topics Covered

The course contains (over a fortnight):

8 periods of English GCSE re-sit 8 periods of Maths GCSE re-sit 8 periods of Science level 3 BTEC 8 periods of Business level 2 BTEC (not the same BTEC course as that taken in Years 10/11) 4 periods of Food Tech Games

The course lasts for one year; at the end of year 12, our students tend to take one of these paths:
1) Stay into Year 13 and continue with Level 3 science
2) Having got some more qualifications, go back to the start of Year 12 and take some of the A.S./BTEC subjects they wanted to in the first place
3) Leave school and go to college, or get an apprenticeship.

Entry requirements

This course is designed for students who have yet to achieve a C grade or above in Maths and/or English GCSE, and who don’t have the appropriate GCSE/Level 2 qualifications needed to take AS levels or Level 3 BTECs.
