A Level Media Studies at Sawtry Village Academy
A Media Studies student is much more than just a passive member of the audience. They deconstruct and challenge an industry that is an integral part of modern society. Media Studies offers the opportunity to study a subject that is both academic and creative. In addition to studying the theory of film, television, magazines and the other aspects of media, students will be expected to plan and produce a series of productions at industry standard.
Average points score of 38+ and at least grade C in GCSE English and/ or maths.
The course is designed to cater for students with no prior knowledge of Media Studies.
Many of our students continue to study the subject at university. This could take the form of a film production course, or animation, web design, advertising, journalism or the many other branches of Media Studies. Other students have been inspired to go directly into the industry, using time outside of school to gain work experience as a means to lead on to a career. The A Level is designed to teach the key skills needed for both the vocational route and the more academic university route. We work hard to ensure we are providing the most up to date and industry-level insight into producing and analysing media products.
