Engineering Level 1 Certificate at Hull College Group

Course description

Do you want to experience a variety of Engineering disciplines that can help you make the appropriate choice to follow your chosen pathway?  This Level 1 qualification may be able to help you gain employment, or as a stepping stone to progress to a higher level course such as our VRQ L2 in Engineering Technology.

You will study a range of engineering subjects including both electrical and mechanical elements.  You will spend most of your day studying the practical units in our fully equipped workshops, as well as some time in the classroom developing your skills in subjects such as Health and Safety and Maths.

  • Basic Turning Techniques
  • Electrical Assembly
  • Maths and English

Entry requirements

No formal qualifications are required for this Level 1 course.

Future opportunities

Progression is onto the Level 2 Diploma in Engineering, followed by Level 3 Subsidiary / Extended Diploma thereafter.

If you gain employment, progression would be onto a Work Based training programme as part of an Apprenticeship

The College is also fortunate to have an active Student Union which hosts an annual ‘Freshers’ Fair’ for students at the beginning of the Autumn term and organises social events throughout the year.

      Hull College students benefit from some of the best facilities in the country – and that’s official! Our most recent Ofsted report stated that the College has “outstanding specialist facilities”.
