Physical Education AS/A Level at The Maelor School

Course description

The PE course at A level is suitable for students who are actively participating in sport and capable of studying a respected and academically rigorous subject. It provides an excellent preparation for higher education. Student will study anatomy, physiology and sports psychology as well as develop their practical skills in performance.
PE offers the chance to further develop skills of team work and critical evaluation. It combines well with subjects such as Biology, Applied Science and Psychology. It is also a popular combination with Chemistry, Physics, ICT and Maths for those wanting careers in the uniformed public services after university.
The PE course is an excellent foundation for specialist study in Physical Education and Sports Science at university. It is also valuable for those considering careers in teaching (including primary education), the leisure industry, sports coaching and professional sport.

Entry requirements

5A*-C at GCSE in at least four different subjects, including English Language; C in PE, and C in Core Science or Merit at BTEC
