GCSE English Literature at Nether Stowe School

Course description

Students will study a wide variety of texts including poetry, prose and drama - including a Shakespeare play.


Assessment will be by two examinations:

Unit 1: Exploring Modern Texts - 2 hours

Unit 4: Approaching Shakespeare and the English Literary Heritage - 2 hours

1 Controlled Assessment: Exploring Poetry (making links between poems)


Future opportunities

English Literature is recognised as a strong academic subject and, as such, is useful for all students contemplating further educational study. It will be essential for those who might want to pursue Literature to A Level or beyond.
