Health, Social Care and Early Years at Newall Green High School and Sixth Form

Course description

Why should I take this course?

You will study a variety of units to develop your knowledge and skills in health, social care and early years. During the course, you will develop a range of employability skills that you help you to develop personal skills and increase your confidence ready to start working.

Course content

You will have the opportunity to work with a number of local businesses and training providers throughout the year to develop your knowledge and understanding of the Health & Social Care sector to develop your employability skills.


Entry requirements

What do I need to join this course?

We encourage all students to aim for 5 A*-C, including English and Maths. If you do not have these qualifications we will still consider your application. If you do not have a grade C or above in English or Maths you will take these subjects as part of your pathway.


How will I be assessed?

Assessment is based on regular assignments and the completion of work experience in a health, social care and early years setting. You are expected to attend a work placement once a week.

Financial information

Students can apply for support from the Student Support Fund (£15-33 per week).

Future opportunities

What will I be able to do after the course finishes?

To a higher level qualification in Health, Social Care and Early Years at another centre.  An apprenticeship with one of our business or progression partners.
Employment within the Health, Social Care and Early Years sector.
