The specification introduces the chemical reactivity of atoms and molecules and provides an understanding of their structures. The development and use of the periodic table is explained. Topics include: Bonding, energetics, rates of reaction, periodicity, Organic chemistry and chemical analysis.
In year 13 the specification develops the concepts of Physical Chemistry, organic chemistry and inorganic chemistry that were introduced in Year 12. Practical chemistry will be evident throughout the two year course with elements of the required practical's being assessed in all examinations. A practical endorsement will accompany the A-level result.
