Hairdressing Level 2 at Coleg y Cymoedd
This course has been designed for learners with a Level 1 Hairdressing qualification for a career within an exciting customer focussed Hairdressing profession.
You will benefit from a variety of activities designed to bring out the best of your potential, and enable you to use your skills and knowledge to progress to a Level 3 Hairdressing qualification. Within this programme you will also study the Welsh Baccalaureate Essential Skills Wales and Customer Service.
You will study units that reflect the needs of the Hairdressing profession, while further preparing you for a career within this sector you will study; Aspects of hairdressing to enable you to work as a stylist. Employment Standards, Health & Safety’, Customer Service, Essential Skills in Communication & Application of Number & Information and Technology.
The course contains both theory and practical Hairdressing based lessons with many opportunities to work within a commercial environment
The Welsh Baccalaureate - you will explore a wide range of areas including how Wales 'fits in' with Europe and the rest of the world, the health of the nation and how to be enterprising
You will also be required to undertake 25+ hours’ of work placement; this is a mandatory element of the programme.
You will require 3 GCSEs grades A*- D including English and Maths or a Level 1 sector skills course qualification. You will be invited to attend a first line interview and attend a second line course presentation, unless you are progressing from a L1 Diploma.
You will also be required to undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.
You will be assessed via a range of methods which include continual assessment, through observation of your practical work, the completion of a portfolio, theoretical evidence and assignment work. There are external examinations and Essential Skills portfolios.
FT Registration Fee - £20.00
On successful completion of this programme you may decide to enter employment as a junior stylist. If you decide to progress onto the Level 3 Hairdressing programme, which is strongly recommended to achieve your full potential for the professional requirements of the Industry; Colour Artist, Media Hairstylist, Cruise Liners Stylist, Salon Owner, Lecturer and Trainer/Assessor.
