Course description

The BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport course is a unique course running into its seventh year at Great Baddow High School. The course is a vocational course designed for someone with a healthy interest in sport. The course covers all aspects of sport from human biology to legislative factors related to sport. The course is ideal for a young person hoping to seek a career in the sports industry and/or looking to go to University to further their education.

- Fitness and gym leadership
- Work based experience in sport (including Chelsea F.C, Essex County Cricket, Gosfield School and Nuffield Health Gym)
- Sports Legacy
- Current issue in sport
- Rules, Regulation and officiating in sport
- Sport as a business
All work is coursework based marked internally and externally.

Entry requirements

- Academic–BTEC Diploma in sport at level 2 or equivalent (4 GCSEs at C or above) and a GCSE Maths and English to grade C.
- Practical – A commitment to a sixth form sports team (Games and training).
- Sixth Form – A commitment to Great Baddow High School sixth form life (Prefects, Lunchtime clubs, Study periods, ‘Giving Something Back’ scheme).
- A commitment to all aspects of leadership undertaken during the course.
