IT Users Diploma Level 1 at Lincoln College

Course description

This programme is designed to enhance your work and life skills in a range of IT and Computing vocational contexts. The course balances theory with practice throughout. Teaching and learning methods encourage the development of the vocational and interpersonal skills sought by today’s employers. Particular emphasis is placed on enhancing professional and communication skills, problem solving and group work is widely used to develop a team approach to problem solving
Following on from this course you will be able to apply to progress onto a Level 2 programme in IT and Computing, subject to successful completion of the whole course and a satisfactory end of year report.
Units typically include: Using The Internet; Improving Productivity Using IT; Imaging Software; Using E-Mail; Multimedia Software and IT Software Fundamentals.


Entry requirements

You will need GCSE’s (minimum Grade G). You will also be required to pass a skills test as-well as be screened in Maths and English.
You will be required to attend an interview and provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report). At your interview, you will be required to demonstrate knowledge and a practical ability in IT and computing.


Assessment is a combination of internally and externally assessed units.
