Art and Design (Graphics unit) BTEC Level 3 at Whitley Academy

Course description

If you are interested in a career in Design, you should do this course. You will be able to select a degree of specialism and be given set assignments with deadlines which will show that you can work across a wide range of disciplines. Depending on your strengths, these include Drawing (Sketching and Form), use of ’Photoshop’, typography, computer aided design, advertising, photography and 3D solid modelling in a variety of materials.

This course is from the Edexcel Art and Design BTEC Level 3 specification and will cancel out other qualifications from the same specification, for this reason students should select either an Edexcel BTEC Level 3 in Art and Design or Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design (Graphic Design).

A Pass level at Year 12

Future opportunities

The portfolio you produce by the end of the course will allow access to a number of foundation and degree courses in the design field and is assessed and structured like all higher education courses, including Foundation courses which are taught through a BTEC framework.

The skills that you develop on this course can lead to a variety of careers in the design industry. Website design, book and magazine illustration, architecture, car design and product design are some examples.
