Course description

Drama and Theatre Studies is both a practical and academic course. During the two years you will be given the opportunity to explore different styles of theatre through text and performance.

It is a good choice if you are looking for a more practical and creative way of working and enjoy working with others. Drama and Theatre Studies A Level allows you to keep future options open but can lead to careers in the Arts,Teaching, and Law. It can be taken alongside any other courses but works particularly well with English Literature.

Entry requirements

Minimum grade C at GCSE in English, previous study of GCSE/BTEC Drama is not necessary.

Future opportunities

A Level Drama and Theatre Studies would naturally lead to a range of higher education courses or careers linked to drama, such as acting, directing, design, musical theatre, stage management, producing, drama therapy, drama teaching and arts administration. However this A Level ranks highly among students who wish to pursue further study or a career in any field, particularly the in the humanities, law and modern foreign languages. It is high on the list of courses accepted by the Russell group universities.
