Psychology A Level at Lytham Sixth Form College

Course description

Psychology is the fascinating scientific study of behaviour. Students will explore how people interact, how we change and develop, how we think, how the nervous system works, how we differ from animals and how we decide what is normal. In doing so, they will develop their ability to think critically and analytically, further develop both their oral and communication skills, and their ability to plan statistically viable experiments. A level Psychology can open up a range of careers and undergraduate courses in psychology, the social sciences, neuroscience and media studies. Popular career choices include social work, clinical or educational psychology, research, teaching and the media.

Entry requirements

In order to study this A level programme students must gain 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C or an equivalent full Level 2 qualification, including English Language at grade B.

Assessment

A Levels are assessed by a mixture of coursework and exams.
