Enterprise and Entrepreneurship BTEC Level 3 at The Leventhorpe School

Course description

Students complete a vocational course where they explore what it is like to set up and run a real micro business. We use a range of outside speakers who act as mentor to our young entrepreneurs. Unit 1 starts the course with thinking about why people set up their own businesses and how to think in a creative way. We then move onto business planning, and actually running the business. Students gain excellent skills which are vital for the business world whenever they chose to enter it.

During the summer term it is expected that students complete an extended work experience placement working as an intrepreneur and assisting businesses by using their problem solving skills. The evidence and experience gained on this placement provides information for Unit 9 and students have the opportunity to practice what they have learnt from the course for the benefit of local business as well as themselves. In the second year of the course students look at how they can grow their business and how it could become a realistic possibility for them to continue after they leave Leventhorpe.
