Maths Level 1 Functional Skills at eTraining

Course description

The idea of Functional Skills is to provide learners with skills in useful aspects of English Maths and ICT, with the emphasis on "useful". Learners can achieve a standalone qualification at up to level 2, or as part of a specialist learning pathway; combining their qualifications with BTEC Apprenticeships, GCSE’s and NVQ’s.

Learners who have completed these courses will gain a basic understanding of English, Maths and ICT skills which are necessary component in the workplace as well as a mandatory requirement to progress to further study. 

 

Course content

Learners will be assessed through a single on-screen exam, gaining skills in the following areas.

 

Representing 

Understanding mathematical information in familiar context and situations

 

Analysing

Use mathematics to obtain answers to simple given practical problems that are clear and routine.

Generate results that make sense for the task in hand.

 

 

Interpreting

 

 

 

 

Provide solutions to simple given practical problems in familiar contexts and situations.

 

Level 1
Learning outcomes

Understand and use whole numbers, understand negative numbers in practical contexts, add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, fractions,decimals and percentages, solve simple problems involving ratio, find mean and range.
