Creative Writing AS/A2 Level at Chichester High Schools Sixth Form
Creative writing is a distinct discipline in Higher Education.
It encourages the development of skills that are essential for further study and a range of professional careers. This A level enables aspiring writers to start on the path to professional practice and is suitable both for those who wish to study English related courses at university, and who may also be taking A level English Literature, and those who may be studying Science,Maths or Humanities courses and wish to improve their creative, critical thinking and communication skills.
Unit 1: Writing on Demand
Unit 2: Exploring Creative Writing
A2 YEAR: This year consists of two units from reading to writing and exploring creative writing.
Unit 3: From Reading toWriting
Unit 4: Exploring CreativeWriting
5 GCSEs at grade C or above with a grade B in English Language
AS YEAR: - Students will:
1. Produce a coursework portfolio of creative pieces from two different genres and a reflective commentary.
2. Learn how to write in response to practical writing scenarios. This is assessed through an examination.
A2 YEAR - Students will:
1. Produce a writing portfolio of 4,000 words and a reflective commentary of 2,000 words.
2. Complete an examination consisting of 2 pieces of writing in response to stimulus material.
