City and Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing at Andover College

Course description

Gain the creative skills you need to work confidently in a hairdressing salon, everything from restyle cutting, hair extensions, free hand colouring and colour correction to demonstrating techniques to others. A Hairdressing NVQ gives you the techniques and experience to develop your career in the hair industry.

The department has two commercial themed salons fitted with excellent facilities to match that of industry, and four training salons all fitted with top of the range equipment. The staff are all fully trained to advanced level, and have considerable experience of working within the industry as salon owners, working in film and theatre, winning competitions and providing a fun and exciting environment.

To be a successful student you will need to have a keen interest in fashion, be a team player, enjoy working with members of the public, great communicator and listener and a happy personality.

At this level students must be able to self-study and commit to additional activities outside of the classroom. Work experience is mandatory at this level and you will be expected to source your own work placement. We provide extracurricular enrichment such as: trips abroad, competition work, studio tours abroad, involvement with productions, visit to The Hair Show, industry shows, community projects.
