Art and Design - BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at The Coleshill School

Course description

Students wishing a more thematic and assignment based approach to Art than the ‘A’ Level course. This course allows a more flexible approach to your studies as there is only one compulsory core unit and then a choice of units from a range of specialist areas. With this course you can progress straight into employment or higher education. There is a wide range of prospective careers that you can explore for example: fine artist, illustrator, photographer or art editor.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements to Level 3 BTEC courses are 5 A* to C grades at GCSE, including English and Maths.

Subject Specific

Grade C at GCSE Art is preferred


You will be assessed by your practical work and a collection of evidence from your portfolio. All units are assessed internally by your teachers and then moderated by the Examination Board. There are NO exams. Your work will be graded Pass, Merit or Distinction. Pass gives you 40 UCAS points, Merit gives you 80 and Distinction gives you 120.
