Course description

Are you interested in sports and leisure?

Are you into keeping fit and healthy?

Come to nacro and learn in our excellent premises, and using the on-site gym (Sheffield only) and other local facilities.

Our course is the City and Guilds Level 2 Award in Sport and it focuses on things such as:

  • Improving your own personal fitness
  • Leading a healthy lifestyle
  • Participating in sport
  • Working opportunities in sport and active leisure
  • Planning, delivery and evaluation of sporting activities
  • And much more...

Besides learning about healthy living and fitness, you will also benefit from sessions in:

  • Basic skills
    - English & Maths
  • Personal and social development skills -
    - confidence building, communication, interaction etc

We have addtional leisure activities, including the chance to play football, experience other sports and get fit in addition to career and job search workshops.

Course content

City & Guilds Level 2 Award provides an excellent course for not only those who are currently physically fit, but for those who are not and would like to be!

Lots of units make up the qualification - each looking at different areas of sport:

  • Participating in sport
  • Improving personal exercise and fitness
  • Leading a healthy lifestyle
  • Working safely in sport and active leisure
  • Components and function of the body in physical activity
  • Recognising opportunities for participating in leisure
  • Assist in the planning, delivery and evaluation of sporting activities

During the course you will participate in a variety of activities - all related to the course.


Added to all this is the chance to improve your English and Maths, improve confidence, communication skills and so on.

Entry requirements

City & Guilds Sport at level 1, or equivalent - and a willingness to learn!


Assessment is mainly through completion of evidence books and worksheets throughout the course, to build your own portfolio

Your trainer will keep you informed of your progress and will make written statements to support your work

Financial information

There are no costs - travel and training is free, and there is even a great canteen on site, so lunch does not have to be expensive either!


And don't forget the free access to a gym!

Further information

There is a certain amount of theory work, though the majority of the work is 'hands on'.

You may be eligible for weekly bursary payments, depending on your circumstances.

You will be entitled to subsidised travel for training purposes. Free use of gym throughout the course.
