Why choose Further Mathematics?

Further Mathematics is widely recognised as being one of the most difficult A-Levels offered in the UK and is held in extremely high regard by employers. Students taking this course find it to be extremely rewarding and an impressive addition to their CV, opening doors to many prestigious careers and universities.

What does the course involve?

AS level Further Mathematics is designed to be learned alongside AS level Mathematics in Year 12or taken up as a new AS subject alongside A2 Mathematics in Year 13.

The modules are Further Pure 1, Decisions 2 and Mechanics 1B and at A2 level, Further Pure 2, Further Pure 4 and Statistics 2.

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade A or above in Mathematics. A baseline assessment will be completed after two weeks to further assess students’ suitability to continue with the course. Students studying Physics and Mathematics but not Further Mathematics, will be required to attend Mechanics lessons on a Wednesday.
