Computer Systems & Network Support BTEC Level 3 at LeSoCo

Course description

This course will prepare you for entry to higher education in information technology, and give you the essential knowledge, understanding and skills to progress into a number of specific areas of work that will incorporate the use of information and communications technology, and move on to a more responsible job if already in employment. The programme is particularly suitable for those who would like to concentrate on the networking and systems support pathway. As a student on this course, you will take modules including: Project Planning with Information Technologies; Mathematics for Information Technology Practitioners; Communications Technologies; Information Technology System Troubleshooting and Repair; Technical Support; Managing Networks; Computer Networks and Cisco. Students learn through a mix of workshops, written assignments, formal teaching and self-study. If you have not already gained a C grade for GCSE English and GCSE Mathematics, working towards this will form part of your programme of study.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at grades A*-C; one of which must be GCSE English or GCSE Mathematics. Or successful completion of a Level 2 substantial qualification in a related subject - plus an initial assessment that indicates an appropriate level of English and mathematical ability, and a satisfactory reference.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of this course can enable you to apply to university - as the successful completion of this programme is equivalent to three A-levels. By applying via UCAS, you can join an appropriate university degree course or join our successful foundation degree courses here at Lewisham South. You can also progress onto our Foundation Degree in Business and IT.
