Hairdressing NVQ Level 2 Diploma at Brooklands College

Course description

This is a one year course that will include both practical and theory work. All aspects of hairdressing including cutting, perming and dressing hair will be studied. Students will be expected to wear uniform and present themselves in a professional manner as practical work will be assessed in the commercial salon. 

You will need to work in a commercial salon for one day per week. The college may be able to assist in finding you a suitable work placement.

The course is for 16-19 year olds who wish to enter the professional world of the hairdressing industry and train to be a Junior Stylist.

Entry requirements

You need 5 GCSE passes at grade D or above including 2 at grade C in an appropriate subject or a Hairdressing Diploma/Certificate NVQ Level 1.


Continuous assessment via practical course assignments and written evaluations.

Financial information

It is advised that a kit and uniform is purchased from our recommended supplier (information will be given to you at the interview). 

Visits may include:  professional exhibitions, an international visit and a chance to take part in competitions and Goldwell colouring, perming and product courses.  Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred.

Future opportunities

Hairdressing NVQ Diploma Level 3 or employment as a Junior Stylist.
