Women’s Hairdressing VTCT Level 2 Diploma at Lord Grey School

Course description

This course will develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to prepare learners for employment as a junior hairdresser/stylist. This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as a junior hairdresser/stylist including: health and safety; client consultation; shampoo and conditioning hair; cutting women’s hair; colouring and lightening hair; the art of dressing hair; providing scalp massage services and plaiting and twisting hair. Learners will develop their skills in the hair salon and are encouraged in their spare time to gain work experience in a real salon environment. On completion of this course, learners may choose to further develop their knowledge and skills by undertaking a Technical Level Qualification in Hairdressing at Level 3.

Assessment

Over the course of a year, learners will have their practical hairdressing skills assessed in a real or realistic working environment. They create a portfolio of evidence through on-line exams and project writing. This is a Pass or Fail course.
