Information and Creative Technology Diploma Level 2 at New College Stamford

Course description

Develop a range of skills and knowledge for a career in the IT industry. This course will give you a solid understanding of web technologies, computer systems, multimedia product development and computational thinking, and provide you with the expertise to maintain computer hardware, software and computer networks whilst developing a digital portfolio to showcase your skills.You will have the opportunity to take part in manyexternal trips including Silverstone F1 Race Course and Cadbury World where you will investigate automated systems. You will meet a range of guest speakers from the industry to give you top tips for advancing your career in IT and Computing.This course is approximately 50% theory and 50% practical.

Course content

You will learn through a variety of different methods to support individual learning styles including; written reports, practical activities, presentations, posters, displays, leaflets and through utlising social media. You will be expected to complete one weeks work placement related to your ‘Computing in the Workplace’ unit allowing you get a real hands on experience of the IT sector.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grades D or above, including English and maths at grades D/3 or above, or a relevant Level 1 Diploma includingwith English and maths at grades D/3 or above.

Assessment

We use varying methods of assessment both individual and group work to enhance your learning experience for internally assessed units, however two of the mandatory units are externally assessed by examination.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this course you can progress on to Computing Diploma Level, an IT Apprenticeship, or enter employment.
