Personal Progress Entry Level 1 Award at Walsall College
A course designed to develop and promote independent living skills focusing on social, cooking, communication and general life skills aimed at progressing you into employment or further learning.
This course is suitable for learners with more complex and profound learning difficulties or disabilities, and aims to improve independence skills. After completing the qualification students will have the option to enrol on various other SLDD courses, including skills for working life and performing arts.
The course consists of a variety of units which help students develop and improve their skills in various areas, including the following:
- Basic food preparation
- Personal safety
- Community participation
- Safety in the home
No formal qualifications required Please note that learners with disabilities or Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities may be exempt from some entry requirements. This will be decided on an individual basis and will be subject to suitable evidence and needs assessments. Admissions tutors will work with the Inclusive Support Team to ensure learners with additional support needs are given appropriate advice and guidance.
Portfolio based which include individual and group activities, real life scenarios, practical, verbal and written assessments. Functional Skills are exam based and only those who are able will take the exam.
