Course description

History suits those who enjoy reading, writing and discussion. It appeals to pupils who are curious about the past, who want to know how the past has affected the present and how it may influence the future. History prepares you for the future, equipping you with the knowledge and skills that are prized in adult life, enhancing employability and developing an ability to take part in a democratic society. It encourages mutual understanding of the historic origins of our ethnic and cultural diversity, and helps you become confident and questioning individuals.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE grades at A* - C (or equivalent), including Grade C or above in History.

Assessment

Unit 1: Breadth Study – Tudors written exam 2h 30min [40% of A-Level]

Unit 2: Depth Study - Weimar/Nazi Germany written exam 2h 30min [40% of A-Level]

Historical Enquiry - Topic of students choice 3,000 – 3,500 words [20% of A-Level]
