History AS & A Level at Heysham High School Sports College

Course description

The course aims to develop your historical knowledge of the periods studied, as well as developing skills of evaluation, analysis and research.  The course comprises three main parts:

  • the Tudors: English 1485-1603;
  • democracy and Nazism;
  • a coursework element of your choice.

Entry requirements

Grade B in History at GCSE level.

Assessment

Coursework and external examination.

Future opportunities

History is a well-respected A level and stands candidates in good stead when applying to universities.  The analytical and evaluative skills that are fostered and developed throughout the course are attractive to universities and useful in a variety of career options such as law, politics and business management.
