Course description

There are 2 levels of qualifications offered:

Level 3 Cambridge Technical Introductory Diploma in Health & Social Care

Equivalent to 1 A level - single option

Level 3 Cambridge Technical Subsidiary Diploma in Health & Social Care

Equivalent to 1  A Level + 1 AS Level - single option

Course content

You will learn to work independently and develop your research and report writing skills.  Your studies will allow you to progress smoothly to Higher Education or into the workplace.  This course is essential for those wishing to pursue Higher Education or Work within the Health, Social Care & Early Years professions.

The qualification encapsulates a wide range of units such as learning about an individual’s rights and needs, cultural diversity, the impact of diet, and coping with changes in life stages.  It is an ideal  foundation for students entering the workplace, providing them with a theoretical background reinforced with practical skills that transfer into a modern working environment.

Assessment

There are a total of 26 units of study, of which 2 are mandatory units.  These are:

  • Communication
  • Equality/Rights

Each unit is assessed individually via a number of assignments.  These could be in the form of:

  • reports
  • essays
  • booklets
  • presentations
  • role play

Future opportunities

You can go on to study a number of degree courses and there are many careers in health care, social care and education e.g. nursing, midwifery, police work, radiography, social worker and primary school teacher.
