Early Years Education and Care (Early Years Educator) - CACHE Level 3 Diploma at City and Islington College

Course description

This course is designed for people with an interest in becoming teachers and educators in Early Years Education.

Course content

The course has been structured around four themes: Health and Well-Being, Legislation, Frameworks and Professional Practice, Play, Development and Learning for School Readiness, Professional Development. Each of these themes consists of a number of study units, of which you must complete 27.

Entry requirements

 
  • You must have four GCSEs at Grade C or above (including English Language and Maths). Alternatively, you can have a Level 2 qualification in Child Care or Health and Social Care at Merit level.
  • You must have two satisfactory references, one evidencing at least two weeks' experience working with children under 7. Please be aware that this course involves a lot of self-directed study.
  • You will also need an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check which costs approximately £50 but it is free if you will be under 19 years old.

 

Assessment

This Diploma is awarded on successful completion of all units, an attendance record of at least 80 per cent and successful completion of the practical evidence record.
