Art and Design Fashion and Clothing BTEC Subsidiary Diploma at Notre Dame Catholic College

Course description

This course encourages students to develop individual creative expertise, enabling them to turn their inspirations into a viable garments and textile pieces. Students will experiment with a variety of textile and manufacturing techniques in order to develop skills to competently make fashion or textiles pieces, which will be presented to an audience. Assessment consists of 6 units of coursework, and grades are awarded as Pass, Merit, Distinction and Distinction*. Learning is mainly through practical demonstrations, group work, individual projects and presentations and students will be expected to work independently and within realistic time constraints in order to fully develop their skills. Units of Study:  Unit 1- Visual recording in art & design  Unit 2- Material, techniques and processes  Unit 3- Ideas and Concepts in art & design  Unit 4- Communication through art & design  Unit 128- Garment production  Unit 129- Accessory production
