Modern Foreign Languages A Level at The Sweyne Park School

Course description

Learning languages increases our confidence, independence, creativity and flexibility, whilst developing our understanding of our own language. We can appreciate the differences and similarities between people from different nations and learn to value cultural diversity. Exploring other cultures both broadens our horizons in terms of world views and enhances our understanding of our native culture.

Course content

The three languages being offered are French, German, and Mandarin. The A level language courses build on knowledge gained at GCSE, further developing communication, grammar and cultural understanding. The range of topics include family and relationships, media, popular culture, and healthy living. You will be presented with a wide variety of authentic stimuli including film, music and interactive online activities.
