Public Services BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Harlow College
If you want to work with the public as a firefighter, police officer or on the armed forces then this public service course is for you. It will give you a detailed understanding of the public services in the UK, which can lead to an exciting career or progression to higher education. It also develops those important 'life skills' which would strengthen an application for a variety of roles and careers, both within and outside the uniformed public services.
This course covers the entire range of uniformed public services from Police, Fire and Rescue, Coastguard and Armed Forces to Prison Service, and HM Revenue and Customs. You will explore a variety of skills including teamwork, leadership and discipline and why they are important in the services.

4 GCSEs (minimum) Grades A* - C or a Merit at a relevant Level 2 Diploma.
Written assignments, group and individual presentations, observed practical assessments etc.
Basic stationery - notebooks, paper, pens and practical clothing, memory stick. Educational visits may require basic camping equipment such as sleeping bag, roll mat and waterproofs. A cost of £350 to cover educational visits and kit. Any underspend is reimbursed to students at the end of the year.
Opportunities to continue studies at higher education Students will also be prepared for employment in the following areas: Police, Fire and Rescue Services, Ambulance Service, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force or Army.
