Hairdressing Apprenticeship Level 2 and 3 at Preston's College

Course description

Working in a salon you will learn job specific skills, earn a wage and attend college once a week to gain your qualification. As a hairdresser in this service industry you will meet new people and build up regular clients providing services such as colouring, cutting and styling hair.

Course content

This Apprenticeship offers a combination of qualifications that will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need for work. If you like meeting new people, have good communication skills and an interest in making people feel good about themselves then hairdressing may be the career path for you.
You will study:
– Health & safety
– Client consultation
– Basic cutting techniques
– Shampooing & conditioning
– Styling, dressing & finishing hair
– Hair colouring
Students on Apprenticeship programmes are also required to study functional skills such as maths, English and computing, as well as any additional qualifications that their employment needs.

Entry requirements

All Apprenticeships require an initial assessment, interview and employment in the industry. At Level 2 you’ll need four GCSEs at grade D or above including English and maths. At level 3 you will need a Level 2 qualification in the subject or 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C including English and maths at grade C or above with at least a D in the remaining subject. You will need good people, dexterity and communication skills as well as a desire to work professionally with the general public.

Future opportunities

The Level 2 Apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to progress onto the Level 3 Apprenticeship in Hairdressing.
