Retail - BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Retail at Calderdale College

Course description

This one year BTEC Level 2 Diploma is designed to broaden your understanding and knowledge of business. This course is equivalent to four GCSEs at grades A-C.

Course content

This is a one year Level 2 Diploma designed as a stepping stone towards entering initial employment in such positions as customer service assistant, stores assistant or retail assistant. You will study three core units and three specialist units, introducing areas such as food retailing, stock control, and security in retail.

This course is designed to prepare you for employment or further study by providing you with vital understanding, skills and knowledge of the retail industry. The delivery is classroom based using case studies, lectures, group work, videos and visits to local organisations.  There is an expectation of a minimum of six hours private study per week, homework is closely monitored.

Entry requirements

An intermediate course suitable for those who have at least 4 GCSEs at grades D or a relevant/equivalent Level 1 qualification, I.e. BTEC Introductory Diploma to include Maths and English. Interview with the specailist tutor.

Assessment

Assessment is through l00% coursework, there are no examinations.  This is a practical, work related course and you will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic situations.

Financial information

In most cases students aged 18 and under who wish to enrol on a full time further education course will have their fees waived.  Students who are aged 19 and over and who wish to enrol on a full time course should contact our Student Services Team on 01422-399367 for more information.

Future opportunities

BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Business • Apprenticeship in Customer Service or in Business Administration,  the course could lead to a wide range of career opportunities including in Business Administration, Customer Service or Retail.
