Business & Human Resource Management BTEC Level 3 Diploma at Walsall College

Course description

An advanced program for school leavers with an interest in HR looking to pursue a career in business. In addition to the core modules, students can take courses in a range of business-related disciplines including recruitment and selection, managing human resources and business environment.

The National Extended Diploma in Business is an ideal step towards a career in various business related roles. It is a wide-ranging vocational programme which is based around practical work, and considers many of the important areas of modern business.

It has been designed to provide a route into business careers and a progression path to University. The award is equivalent to three academic ‘A’ Levels.

The course is split up into four core modules, and a wide range of Human Resource optional units, including:
 

  • Business Resources
  • Introduction to Marketing
  • Business Environment
  • Human Resource Management
  • Communications
  • Marketing
  • Recruitment and Selection

 


Assessment is done through a portfolio and each unit will have its own piece of assessed coursework. The course is split into 12-week ‘blocks’ and progression from one to the next will depend on assignment completion, effort, punctuality and attendance.

 

Entry requirements

5 GCSE’s at Grades C or above including English Language and/or Maths (some courses may require both, please check your individual course). Or successful completion of Level 2 related qualification.

Assessment

Portfolio Based Assessment.

Every unit will have its own assessed piece of coursework

All units will be structured into 12-week blocks (3 per block) with a 3 day hand in ‘window’ at the end of each block.

Where an assignment has not been completed within a given week a replacement assignment will be issued, this will be structured only to the pass level criteria. Progress from one 12-week block to the next is dependent on satisfactory progress to date in terms of key parameters including:
 

  • Assignment completion
  • Attendance
  • Motivation/effort
  • Meeting deadlines

 


Once submitted the assessments will be marked, internally verified and returned to the student within a two-week period.

HNC/D Business,degree at Walsall College (in association with Pearson and Birmingham City University), degree at a University, employment.
