What is the programme structure?NVQ Level 3 Hairdressing functional skills: English and maths and employment rights and responsibilities.What does the programme include?The units covered within this programme include:. Health and Safety. Promote additional products or services to clients. Provide consultation services. Create a variety of looks using a combination of cutting techniques. Design and create facial hair shapes; provide shaving services; face massage services; Design and create patterns in hair. . Photographic work. Competition work. Hair patterns and design Visits:The section offers the opportunity to visit exhibitions and competitions throughout the year.
NVQ Level 2 Barbering or equivalent. Motivated and committed students over 17, employed as a junior barber working on clients. There are opportunities for Accreditation of Prior Barbering knowledge and skills.
Assessment is continuous by observation of practical skills, oral questioning, on-line tests. There is the opportunity for Accreditation of Prior Learning. The Apprentices use modern, fully equipped training workshops and salons. The 'Enhance' salon at the college is open to the public, providing a range of professional services. In addition, the college has a wide range of facilities available to trainees, such as the Learning Resource Centre with access to computers. Trainees can also access lots of support such as careers guidance, counselling and financial help.Will there be any extra costs involved?Students must provide a kit of essential equipment. Students are required to wear all black uniform whilst in the salon. A kit list will be provided to complete the programme.
Successful students may progress to assessor award, NVQ Level 4 Management or a Foundation Degree.
