Mathematics A Level at Tyne Metropolitan College

Course description

In virtually all areas of science, industry and commerce, Mathematics plays a key role.

During your A Level course you will probe deeper into Mathematical concepts such as algebra and statistics.

Studying this Maths course sets you up for Higher Education and a great career.

Studying A Level Maths teaches you how to think logically. Employers in many areas value this skill very highly.

Maths is fun, interesting and challenging and also highly rewarding, encouraging you to break down big problems into smaller parts and thinking these through logically to find an overall solution.

Course content

AS - Core Mathematics, 1 and 2 and an applied option.

A Level - Core Mathematics, 3 and 4 and an applied option.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs Grade A* to C including at least a Grade B in Maths.


AS/A Level - Three exams in each year.

Future opportunities
