Business Studies BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at The John Fisher School
The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business is a practical, work-related course. Students learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. Students focus on a particular subject area and develop a range of specialist skills and knowledge. This course is equivalent to three A Levels.
During the course you will: Learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. Students focus on a particular subject area and develop a range of specialist skills and knowledge. The Extended Diploma provides both a broad foundation of business education and a firm basis for specialism in a selected avenue of business activity. The course is made up of eighteen units – four core units plus fourteen specialist units. The specialist units enable learners to study particular areas in depth. Students enjoy trips to Coca Cola factory, as well as additional work experience opportunities. Units studied include: Internet marketing and social media Starting your own business Managing a business event Business ethics Business and the economics environment.
4/5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English Language and/or Mathematics OR Merit at BTEC 1 st Diploma level. Assessment- Please note the assessment criteria has yet to be decided for 2016.
BTEC Level 3 Extended Diplomas are valued by employers and lead to careers in many business specialisms. Examples are: Student A who achieved the equivalent of AAA and went to Reading University and student B achieved the equivalent of AAB and went to Bournemouth. Last year, one of our students achieved D*D*D* and went to Bath University.
