IT 90 Credit Diploma Level 3 at Lincoln College

Course description

The BTEC Level 3 90-Credit Diploma is a qualification which offers a wide base of skills for IT Practitioners.
This is not a course for IT Users i.e. training to use Office products, web browsing etc. as its content is for individuals who seek a career in an Information Technology profession: Computer Programmer, Web Developer, Network Administrator or Computer Technician.
The aim of this course is to prepare those who wish to embark on a career within the field of computing or, for those who prefer, to progress onto the Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT – allowing progression into Higher Education (HND/BSc). 
Units typically include: Communication and Employability Skills; Computer Systems; Organisational Systems security; E-Commerce; Computer Networks; IT Technical Support; Objected Oriented Programming; Procedural Programming and Website Production.

Entry requirements

You will need 5 GCSE’s including English Language and Mathematics (minimum Grade G). You will also be required to pass a skills test as-well as be screened in Maths and English.
You will be required to attend an interview and provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report). At your interview, you will be required to demonstrate knowledge and a practical ability in IT and computing.
At your interview, you will be required to provide evidence of previous IT knowledge and skills in the form of a portfolio. In addition to attendance and participation, you will be expected to successfully pass 3 short assignments in the first six weeks of term in order to continue on each course.


Assessment is by written coursework.
