French at The Grange School

Course description

course structure

During the AS level you will study topics such as Le Tourisme, Le Sport,

These will then be followed at A level by L’Environnement (technologie,

pollution, réchauffement terrestre, transport, énergie nucléaire, énergies

renouvelables, conservation, recyclage), et Les Actualités et La Politique

(racisme, immigration, exclusion, intégration, terrorisme).

Language lessons consist of many activities: apart from reading, speaking,

listening and writing using text books, you will have regular lessons in the

new language laboratory, where you will use authentic material to enhance

your language skills. Other authentic material such as the Internet,

newspapers, magazines, films, programmes and songs will also be a

fundamental part of the course.

During the UVI, you will carry out 2 or 3 cultural studies from a selection of

literature, films and regions of France. You will then be assessed on your

knowledge of these in the A level speaking and writing exams.

You will also spend time each cycle talking to the school’s language assistant.

This will help you to improve your spoken French!

Students also have the opportunity to travel to France for work experience,

and as part of our new Exchange partnership with Lycée Louis Barthou in Pau.
