Course description

Mathematics is a demanding and highly valued qualification. Students study concepts such as quantity, structure, space and change that are essential for our understanding of the world around us.

Mathematics (Decision and Pure), deals with large scale business and organisational problems and combines well with Computing, Business Studies and Economics.

Course content

You can expect to:

  • Study pure Mathematics – algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus and numerical methods
  • Study Decision mathematics, including mathematics applied to the real world
  • Widen and deepen your understanding of mathematical concepts
  • Learn to use and apply a wide range of mathematical techniques

Entry requirements

One grade B and four grade Cs at GCSE, A/A* Grade Maths GCSE and successful diagnostic test result. This course is not recommended for students who achieve a B grade in GCSE Maths. Students with a B grade in GCSE Maths (achieved from the higher tier paper) will only be considered if they achieve a high mark in the maths diagnostic test.
